Why it Matters:Differential gears,particularly hypoid gears,experience extreme pressure.Only dedicated Hypoid Gear Oil with the correct API GL rating(e.g.,GL-5)contains the necessary Extreme Pressure(EP)additives to prevent metal-to-metal contact and wear.

Guidance:

Always consult your owner's manual for the exact specification(viscosity,e.g.,75W-90,and performance rating).

For Limited-Slip Differentials(LSD),use a gear oil specifically formulated for LSDs or that contains a friction modifier additive if required.Using the wrong oil can cause chatter and clutch pack damage.
